St. Sarah's Parish: Ange-Aimée Woods Healing Through Art Fund

Courtesty of St. Sarah’s Parish News:

In memory of our friend and fellow traveler, Ange-Aimée Woods, St. Sarah’s Parish calls on parishioners, family, friends, and interested members of the public, to participate in the creation of a special fund for healing through the arts.

Our parish family became very close to Ange-Aimée Woods during the September 2013 Fellowship of St. Anne, a Johannite pilgrimage to St. Anne’s Shrine on the border between Vermont and Québec.  Tragically, our friend and fellow pilgrim passed on to the Light beyond the shadows this month at the very young age of 42.

To help us keep Ange-Aimée’s memory alive, St. Sarah’s Parish will be raising funds to support programs which promote healing through art. There are two possible beneficiaries of the fund:

Museum of Fine Arts Artful Healing offers art-making activities for children, teens, young adults, and their families in Boston-area hospitals and healthcare centers. The MFA currently provides off-site workshops at Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These art workshops provide a fun and creative experience for participants undergoing medical treatment. Art expression engages the imagination, helps alleviate anxiety, and provides a space for positive interactions and communication –and the result is a beautiful piece of art to keep.

The Foundation for Art Healing explores the relationship between health and creative expression through rigorous scientific research; empowers individuals, communities, and vulnerable populations coping with challenging conditions like trauma and chronic illness, through direct, impactful, and innovative programs and tools; and engages, informs, and inspires these populations and the ever-growing arts and healing community, building awareness through thought leadership, shared stories of “art and healing,” and original creative works.

To make a donation please join us for our next scheduled Liturgy on August 9th, 2014 beginning at 5 p.m., 21 Maple St. in Arlington, Massachusetts.  You can also donate by visiting our donation page. St. Sarah’s Parish is chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a non-profit religious corporation and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the Internal Revenue Code.
