RECTOR: Fr. John J. DiGilio, AC, JD

Fr. John, as he is known to us, is a Priest in the Apostolic Johannite Church and the leader of our Los Angeles parish, St. Joachim of Fiore. He also serves as the Treasurer of the Denomination and sits on the Apostolic Council. He was formerly Chief of Staff to His Grace, Mar Thomas, Archbishop and Primate of the United States. In addition to his work with the AJC, Fr. John is also a practicing Pure Land Buddhist (Jodo Shinshu) and an active member of the Nishi or Hongwanji-ha sect. You can follow Fr. John’s blog about living a life of gratitude here.
Outside of the Church, John DiGilio is not shy about telling you that he is – first and foremost – a librarian. He has spent the last 25 years as a professional legal research analyst, law library manager and director, legal information consultant, and industry leader. John has proudly been affiliated with a number of global law firms, legal information vendors, and industry associations.
Professionally, John is very active in the law and law library communities. His articles, research papers, and opinion pieces have been featured in numerous regional, national, and international publications. He has also taught college and graduate courses in such topics as business ethics, e-commerce, fair employment practices, applied research methodologies, and business law. John enjoys talking about technology and leadership to various library organizations and has spoken all over the United States, Canada, and even the Caribbean.
John earned his Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law and his Master of Library & Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Sciences. He was the founder and former Editor-in-Chief of On Firmer Ground – a blog by and for law firm librarians – and his own information and tech blogs, informed.JD and iBraryGuy. He spent almost a decade as co-editor of the popular Pinhawk Law Librarian Digest and currently sits on the editorial board of AALL Spectrum.
