Salutations to all Initiates, Adepti, and Masters of the Friary

Let it be known that in the interest of the advancement and understanding of our Adepti, that we, +Lvx Ex Tenebris, Grand Master of The Friary / Ordo Sacrae Flammae, do hereby create and formulate a new path within Our Order.

The Commandery.

Commanderies within the Friary will henceforth act as special "focus" groups- mini-Orders unto themselves, created by our Friars Magister Templi, to which a Friar Adeptus Minor or above may affiliate (this is based on the premise that Iº Friars should concentrate on their "general magical education" prior to specializing within a particular Commandery) for the purpose of specializing in a specific style, school, or method of Magick and Initiation.

A Commandery is characterized by special interests and emphases, which may be formalized by special introductory and ritual procedures within that Commandery. Such interests and emphases may not clash with those of the Friary as a whole, and a Commandery's initiatory system must be subordinate to and supportive of the meta-system of the Friary.

As opposed to Lodges, which are geographically based, Commanderies are open in membership to the Friary's Adepti far and wide, without regard to location.

The areas of focus for a Commandery may be historic, philosophical, geographic, psychological, religious, or almost anything else that does not conflict with the Friary's basic ethical guidelines.
